Recently, ex-Kyuss members Scott Reeder and Josh Homme (who now frontsQueens of the Stone Age) filed a lawsuit against John Garcia and Brant Bjork, their former bandmates in the California stoner rock outfit. Homme and Reeder claim that Garcia and Bjork stole the Kyuss name by touring as Kyuss Lives!, alleging trademark infringement and consumer fraud.
Garcia and Bjork have now issued a statement regarding the lawsuit:
We are both shocked and saddened that our friend and one time band mate has chosen to file a lawsuit against us, especially after having positive discussions since our reformation. We look forward to resolving this private matter behind closed doors and moving forward with work on our new album and connecting with our amazing, loyal fans.
A statement from Homme and Reeder on Monday called the case “a needless mess” and claimed that the members of Kyuss Lives! filed federal documents last year “in an attempt to steal the name Kyuss.
